CommonStock was built for anyone interested in investing.
Not at all! However, for others to see your portfolio and when you trade you must connect your stock brokerage or crypto exchange account to CommonStock.
CommonStock is free to use and will always have a free version for users.
Only if you let them. The default group setting is to hide values and only show the percentage an asset makes up in your portfolio. You can choose to make values public if you would like.
No. Nobody can touch your assets, nor can anyone trade on your behalf.
No. You are the only one who has the ability to make trades.
Groups are sets of users that can chat together, view each others’ portfolios and get alerted when others make a trade.

There is no limit to the number of groups you can be in.

Right now most of the API keys we use last for about a month. To keep your data up to date we ask that you reconnect.
We don’t! We actually never handle nor store your stock brokerage or crypto exchange login. We use something called an API that allows us to communicate with your platform. Only after you have used the login on their site (or on your third-party broker manager) to give us access. You don’t even need to connect a platform, CommonStock is just much more powerful if you do!
Yes! Since we use APIs to connect to your brokerage and/or exchange CommonStock never actually touches your assets. Further, nothing can be bought or sold without you explicitly doing it and money can never be transferred to or from your accounts through CommonStock.
CommonStock chat is powered by Layer, an enterprise communication provider, which uses Transport Layer Security (TLS) to encrypt messages in transit. Additionally, certificate pinning is used to only accept legitimate requests and further encryption is employed by Layer when data is at rest.
The security of your data and money is our primary concern. As a result, CommonStock only stores the data necessary to provide you an accurate picture of your portfolio and performance. We store only the transaction information that you approve via your stock brokerage or crypto exchange in order for us to know what assets you've bought and sold, and the cost, quanitity and date for that transaction. At no point do we store or ever have access to your usernames, passwords, account numbers, name, address, any personally identifiable information, wallet IDs, private keys, or anything else that could be used to identify for your account. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any further questions/concerns: [email protected]
We don’t! But we do plan on adding premium features that will be available for a fee.
The best way to learn is by doing and if it’s fun plus friends are involved, it’s also easier to start and stick with. Friends are sources of untapped knowledge and if that knowledge is shared, everybody learns and performs better.
